DeepVid Desktop App Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 31, 2026 · Last updated: October 31, 2026

Scope

This policy covers the DeepVid desktop app and the companion services you enable. DeepVid is developed and maintained by 977Star, an independent developer. This policy applies to both the directly distributed version and the Microsoft Store version of the app. The browser extension has a separate privacy policy. Your selected online models, video platforms, payment services and AI tools also have their own policies.

Media, notes and your library

Imported audio/video, links, titles, subtitles, transcripts, keyframes, notes and questions are used for media processing, note generation, reading, search and export. Files, settings and caches are stored on your device, and exports are saved to the location you choose. When you use online services, the content needed to fulfill a request is also sent to the relevant provider. Not all processing happens locally.

Online models and video platforms

Online speech-recognition and language-model services receive the audio, text, context or other content needed for transcription, note generation or Q&A, depending on your selection and the feature. Providers may charge fees and process or retain requests under their own terms. Local-model inference runs locally; model downloads, online media retrieval and other network features still make network requests. Video platforms may receive links, IP addresses and request information needed to retrieve content.

Accounts, licensing and purchases

Sign-in, verification codes, license verification and device binding may process email addresses, session credentials, license information, device identifiers and operation records to provide accounts, verify entitlements and offer support. Account and licensing services use Cloudflare infrastructure; verification and related transaction emails use Resend. Your selected payment service processes payment information under its own policy, and we do not receive full card details. We do not sell your personal information. We process order, email, amount, payment-status and license records needed for fulfillment. Available purchase channels are shown on the actual checkout page.

Usage statistics and local diagnostics

The app includes a usage-statistics setting that is on by default for new installations and can be turned off at any time in Settings. When enabled, limited event fields such as a random installation identifier, version, channel, task-result category, input source, failure stage and elapsed time help us understand usage and stability; we do not send the content of your media, notes or links in these events. Linking statistics to your account is a separate control and is off by default. Events are received through Cloudflare services; business and event records may also be synchronized to developer-maintained analytics systems. Turning statistics off stops future collection and transmission; it does not automatically erase records already received. Local logs stay on your device to support troubleshooting. Review paths, links and other sensitive information before sharing diagnostics.

Browser authorization, phone access and MCP

The companion extension can send selected video links and titles to the local app. Optional YouTube authorization may transfer a sign-in session. The received session is held in process memory, and an in-flight operation may use a temporary cookie file. Revoking browser permissions and clearing a session already received by the app are separate actions. When LAN access or MCP is enabled, authorized devices or AI tools can access permitted library content and operations. External AI tools and models apply their own processing rules. Protect pairing information and access keys.

Updates, news and service recipients

In the Microsoft Store version, app updates are delivered by Microsoft Store under Microsoft’s own policies; the app does not download or install its own updates. Otherwise, update checks, news, announcements, component downloads and model downloads connect to the respective distribution or content services, which may process ordinary connection information such as IP addresses and request times. Developer services include Cloudflare, Resend and developer-maintained business and analytics systems. Your selected speech-recognition, language-model, video, payment and AI-tool providers receive information needed for the relevant feature. Services may process data in different countries or regions.

Storage, retention and security

Local notes, media, settings and exports generally remain on your device until you delete, clear or replace them. Cache cleanup in Settings preserves favorited notes and associated resources; to remove them, unfavorite them or use the relevant individual deletion control. Model API keys, license codes and MCP access keys you enter are saved in the app’s local configuration file without additional encryption, and your account sign-in session is kept in the app’s local storage. Anyone with access to your device account, or to a backup or synchronization of the app’s data folder, may be able to read them, so protect your device and any backups. Uninstalling the app should not be assumed to delete all local data or any server-side records.

Server-side usage-statistics events received by Cloudflare services are kept for 90 days, and the de-duplication receipts that prevent repeated delivery are kept for 180 days. Copies synchronized to developer-maintained analytics systems are not automatically deleted when the Cloudflare copies expire, and we do not state a fixed deletion date for them. Account, license, order and security records are kept for as long as needed to provide the account, verify entitlements, fulfill purchases, handle disputes and comply with legal obligations. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we hold, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Your choices and requests

You can choose local or online models, turn usage statistics and account association on or off, delete notes and caches, sign out, unbind a license where the app offers it, and turn off LAN access, MCP or browser authorization. Turning statistics off stops future collection and does not erase records already received.

We do not currently provide a self-service way to delete or export server-side records. To ask about access, correction, deletion or other privacy rights that apply to you, open an issue at the contact link below without including personal data, and we will arrange a private way to continue. We may need to verify your identity, and we will consider each request together with applicable legal requirements and the transaction or security records we must keep. We do not promise a fixed response time or outcome beyond what applicable law requires.

DeepVid is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Minors should use the app with appropriate supervision. Contact us if you believe a request involves a minor’s information.
